Opening Statement

from Opening Statement by Derrick Faith

about

One of 3 songs I intended to use for TSD in the future, it's way heavier and more "djenty" than most songs I was writing at the time. Lyrically, it summarizes how I tend to communicate things; "Just one more thing" followed by a hundred more things. It also deals with the problem of one way communication, and how nothing gets resolved unless you really tackle the issues openly and honestly.

lyrics

Multiplied
by the division we've created
I'd like to add
That you've taken away
All I have

Just one more thing

Spoken aloud
In the remnants of self doubt
A revenant shroud
Malevolent
Flying proud
With careless words of prey
That serve to claw
their way out
Begging me now
Not to negotiate
And navigate
Your fragile
Sensibilities
Too delicate
To delegate
I'd like to state
Before it's too
LATE

I to I for an eye that just won't see
When it's so hard to agree
When the power shifts hands
Will it bring you to your knees?
Or was your translation lost

To the games
And the verbs you play
Insincere

Spitting out
Analogies that don't quite work
So unclear

I've always prided myself
On speaking eloquently
Communication is key
That's why it's such a damn shame
To have to talk down like this
Because you're so fucking dumb
So pay attention to the reason
Here it comes

Illuminating a visible distrust
With a vanity so unjust
(I can't say)
(You won't say)
(We don't say)
(I can't hear)
(You aren't clear )
(We don't care)

I to I for an eye that just won't see
Right or wrong we disagree
When the money shifts hands
Will it bring you to your knees?
Was your opinion wrong?

Respond to touch will you say
What your opening statement failed
so hard to convey
Surrender the notion at play, to relay
That we've somehow won today

Spinning a web of thoughts inside your mind
The value of words deteriorates
Over time,
So are you ready make your written legacy?

Stated opinions lost their allure
Speaking louder in hopes
To find the cure
So are you prepared to speak the truth
and let it be?

Blah Blah Blah....

(That last part was a bunch of nonsense and gibberish. This next part however is very important)

Blah Blah Blah!
